Midlife Reset - 4 Ways to Finish Summer as Your Strongest Self!

August marks the final stretch of summer (sigh...), but if you're a woman in midlife, it's the perfect time for a pause, reflect and reset. Whether you are managing menopause symptoms like fatigue, stubborn weight gain or just stuck in a rut..... you can make this month a turning point.

Instead of thinking of it as starting all over, see it as re-aligning with what you need most - your strength, your health, and feeling good in your skin. Here are 4 ways you can make August your strongest month yet:

  1. Reset your mindset

Let go of statements like, "I should be further along by now", "I wish I wasn't addicted to sugar", or "I can't get stronger at this age". That kind mindset steers you into believing that real change is out of your reach, but that's not true. It's never too late to make progress and feel better in your skin.

Instead, try starting your day with an affirmation, "I allow myself to make healthier choices at a pace that works for my body and my spirit". Small mindset shifts create powerful and impactful changes.

  1. Refresh your routine

Summertime is the perfect opportunity to try something new and shake things up! You can add a nature walk into your routine, take swimming or aqua-fit classes, or switch up your meals with lighter, seasonal foods. A little variety is good for your mind and body. It's not about perfection, but making small, positive changes towards a healthier you.

  1. Reconnect with your body

Menopause (and the years that follow) can make you feel alien in your own body. Foods that you once enjoyed, now leave you bloated and sluggish. The workouts that energized you in the past, like step classes or Peloton rides, have you feeling exhausted. It's not that you're broken, it's that your body is changing and that's okay. Choose activities that will support your strength, mobility and independence for years to come. Reconnect through movement that empowers, centers, and strengthens you.

  1. Reflect weekly

Give yourself a moment each Sunday to check in with yourself. Ask these questions:

    • What made me feel strong the past week?

    • Where do I feel off-balance?

    • What small adjustment can I make this week to feel better?

Taking time weekly to reflect allows you to readjust and make the necessary shifts, without the guilt.
